In celebration of the Indigenous Peoples' Day this video is befitting. This short documentary shows you the history and how the Cup'ig dance came to be in December 2006. I believe it was 1936 when the missionaires and the BIA banished the practice of Cup'ig dance on Nunivak Island. Here the Heartbeat Alaska's Jeanie Greene was able to record the beauty of Native dance. I see my iluqs-teasing cousins, Howard Amos and our late Hultman "Ike" Kiukun who were instrumental in getting it off the ground, including everyone you see in this documentation. I just happened to be a helper at that time December 2006. I was overwhelmed and cried with joy at the time and still does.
